Commissioning the CMS trigger with cosmic rays
The CMS experiment has collected about 300 million cosmic ray events. This has provided an excellent opportunity to test the trigger and prepare for the LHC collision data. This paper describes some of the L1 trigger studies we performed with these events.
متن کاملDesign and performance of a straw tube drift chamber
Drift chambers are now used in a lmost every h igh energy physics experiment. There are many different designs of drift chambers and one of them uses straw tubes as detector elements [1]. In this article, we repor t the design, construct ion, and per formance of large straw tube drift chambers used in the spect rometer a rm of E735 at the Fermi lab collider. E735 is an exper iment to s tudy low...
متن کاملBaBar Level-1 Drift Chamber Trigger Upgrade
submitted to the Xth VCI 2004 30 November 2003 This BaBar L1 DCT upgrade is essential for improving L1 trigger background rejection in preparation for the expected increase in PEP-II luminosity. A large fraction of the current L1 trigger background come from interactions of beam particles with beam line components at ∼ ±20 cm from the interaction point (IP), along the beam direction (z axis). T...
متن کاملPerformance of the SLD Central Drift Chamber
We reportfor thefirsttimeon theperformanceof theSLD Central Drift Chamber (CDC) at SLC, which has been recordingdatasince 1992. The low mass of the chamber and the use-of a gas characterized by both a low drift velocity and low diffusion constant help to minimize the drift-distance measurement errors. We describe some of the calibrations and corrections applied to the dam, and report on the res...
متن کاملCms Calorimeter Trigger Implementation and Performance
For most of the CMS ECAL, a 6 crystal by 6 crystal array of physical calorimeter towers is mapped into trigger towers. There is a 1:1 correspondence between the HCAL and ECAL trigger towers. The trigger tower size is equivalent to the HCAL physical towers, .087 x .087 in η x φ. The φ size remains constant in ∆φ and the η size remains constant in ∆η out to an η of 2.1, beyond which the η size do...
